We are proud to offer the PEERS® (Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills) program, developed at UCLA. PEERS® is one of the only evidence-based social skills programs proven to help children, teens, and young adults build lasting friendships and feel more confident in social situations.

Participants learn and practice essential skills such as:

  • Starting and entering conversations

  • Exiting conversations gracefully

  • Communicating through texts and social media appropriately

  • Finding new sources of friends

  • Using humor in the right way

  • Showing good sportsmanship

  • Planning and attending get-togethers

  • Resolving conflicts respectfully

  • Changing or improving a reputation

  • Handling teasing, rejection, and bullying

The program is interactive, using role-play, coaching, and real-world practice. Our founding members have been formally trained by the UCLA PEERS® group to serve as social coaches, ensuring that families receive guidance and strategies directly grounded in the research-backed model. Our goal with PEERS® is to help every participant feel socially capable, emotionally supported, and ready to build meaningful connections that last.

We believe the PEERS® program is most powerful when it’s rooted in neurodiversity, acceptance, and authenticity. We honor the many different ways people experience and interact with the world, and we respect each individual’s unique perspectives and communication styles. PEERS® is not about forcing one “right way” to connect with others, because there isn’t one. Instead, it provides evidence-based tools and strategies that participants can choose to use if they find them helpful. If any skill feels like masking or doesn’t align with personal goals, participants never have to use it. Learning and practicing social skills through PEERS® is always a personal choice, and we celebrate each person’s journey in finding what feels authentic for them.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Each PEERS® session is held online in a supportive group setting, where participants learn a new social skill each week through lessons, role-plays, and guided practice. Teens or young adults meet together with trained facilitators. Sessions include real-time interaction, opportunities to try out skills in a safe environment, and weekly practice assignments to build confidence in everyday life.

  • Our PEERS® groups meet once a week for about 90 minutes, and the full program runs for 16 weeks. Each week builds on the last, introducing a new skill, practicing it together in the group, and then trying it out at home during the week. We also do our best to group participants by age and availability so everyone can feel comfortable and get the most out of the experience.

  • The PEERS® program runs for 16 weeks, with a total cost of $1,200. We know this is a big commitment, and we don’t want cost to be a barrier. That’s why we’re happy to work with you on a payment plan, if needed, because every family should have the chance to access this kind of support.
